Introducing my new community!

What is it?

The community is like a mini social network (similar to a Facebook group but less hectic and with no ads). It’s a place where you can go to ask me questions, connect with other fans, share quotes/scenes/theories, etc. I’ll also be posting some stories/chapters in serial form, like I’ve done on the blog with Paragons and Leda’s Log. The community will be the new place for these.

Who the Community is for

If you want to intertact with other fans and with me.

If you’ve enjoyed reading the chapters and stories I’ve posted to the blog. Future ones will be posted to the community.

If you wouldn’t mind more frequent communication.

If you’d like to have a voice in my future projects.

Background

For a while, I’ve felt that I need a space for fans who enjoy a more interactive experience. The newsletter and blog are great for sharing my big news, but they can be a little one-sided. I want to give you guys a chance to chat with me and one another if you wish.

I’ve spent the last few months debating how to do this.

Facebook doesn’t work for me. They keep kicking me off for silly things like traveling, and I don’t have time to fight with them about it. I’d rather spend that time writing books. 😃

Some authors use Discord. I looked into it, but the interface gave me vertigo. 😵‍💫

I eventually picked Mighty, which allowed me to create a mini social network. I think it has the good of Facebook’s interface without all the busy stuff and ads (I hate it when there are ads popping all over my screen, and I don’t think I’m alone in that).

You can access the community on Android, iOS, and the web.

What This Means Going Forward

I’ll use the newsletter and the blog mainly for big news like book releases.

The community will also have news. In addition, I’ll post my write-as-I-go chapters/stories there. The community is a good place to go to ask me questions (you’re also free to use my contact form on this site for that or to reply to my newsletters). I’ll have more behind-the-scenes things in the community such as new covers/art, snippets, what I’ve been doing to get more audio books published, etc. There will be more regular news, the smaller developments between the book releases.

Summary

Newsletter: for people who want to know when I have a new book (and the occasional bonus story).

Community: for people who also want to know what I’m working on, read the write-as-I-go stuff, interact with other fans, discuss my books, get more frequent updates on my writing/new art/audio/etc.

It’s totally cool to use both!

Conclusion

I hope this will be a positive development for everyone, whether you prefer just the big news or would like something more.

If you have any questions or need help getting into the community, just let me know in the comments or through my contact form.
